How to Generate a Playlist
Learn how to generate playlists in PlaylistCraft using Quick Setup for speed or Manual Setup for precise control with AI helpers.
What is Playlist Generation?
In PlaylistCraft, "playlist generation" is the process of creating a playlist record with enough detail for the system to generate songs (and later render + upload). On the Create New Playlist screen, you have multiple ways to start.
This guide focuses on the two core flows:
- Quick Setup: one prompt → AI fills the fields
- Manual Setup: fill fields step-by-step with optional AI helper buttons
If you've created Generation Engines in Personalization, Manual Setup also includes a "Generate from Engine" option that can auto-fill the remaining fields.
infoPrerequisites
- ✓ Logged into PlaylistCraft
- ✓ Sufficient credits to create a playlist and generate songs
- ✓ Optional: Generation Engines/Personas/Styles created in Personalization
Option 1: Quick Setup
Quick Setup is the fastest method. You describe the playlist in one sentence, and PlaylistCraft generates the details for you.
Steps
- In the sidebar, click Playlists
- Click Create Playlist
- Click Quick Setup
- In Describe Your Playlist, type a clear prompt. The better your prompt, the better the initial results. Include genre, vibe, language, and whether it's instrumental.
Example prompt: "Create a chill lo-fi hip hop playlist for studying, instrumental only, relaxing mood"
- Click Generate Playlist Details
- After generation, PlaylistCraft moves you to the manual screen with everything pre-filled
- Review and adjust any fields as needed
- Click Create Playlist
Option 2: Manual Setup
Manual Setup is best when you want control. You fill the playlist details step-by-step, and you can still use AI helper buttons to generate suggestions.
Required Fields
- Go back to the mode selection screen and click Manual Setup
- Genre (required) - Enter a genre to unlock AI suggestions
- Playlist Name - Type your own or click Generate Ideas to see AI suggestions
- Language (required) - Enter the language for your playlist
- Style - Type your own style or click Generate Options
- Mood - Type your mood or click Generate Options
- Instrumental - Choose With Vocals or Instrumental Only
- Description (optional) - Click Auto-Generate or write your own
- Negative Tags (optional) - Click Auto-Generate for suggestions
- Suno Model - Pick a model (V5 default, or V4/V3)
lightbulbPro Tip
Negative tags are what you don't want in the results — for example 'distorted', 'low quality', or a style you're trying to avoid.
Optional: Auto-fill Using a Generation Engine
If you've created a Generation Engine in Personalization, you can use it to auto-fill the remaining fields based on your saved preferences.
- In the panel Use a Generation Engine? (Optional), open the dropdown and select an engine
- Click Generate from Engine
- The system fills the rest for you. Some fields become locked because they were auto-filled from the engine
Optional: Personalization Styles
Before creating the playlist, you can optionally attach personalization presets. This doesn't change the required fields — it just gives the system saved styles to use later in generation, rendering, and YouTube upload.
- Scroll to Personalization Styles (Optional)
- Optionally pick presets from the dropdowns:
- Generation Engine
- Persona
- Render Background Style
- YouTube Thumbnail Style
- YouTube Details Style
- Optionally click Create New next to a dropdown to open Personalization in a new tab
Create the Playlist
Once you've filled all required fields and optional personalization, click Create Playlist.
After you create the playlist, PlaylistCraft will start the generation workflow. You can open the playlist details page to track progress and see songs as they complete.
Common Mistakes
- If you click Create and it says you need credits, you'll have to top up in Credits & Billing first
- If you used a Generation Engine, some fields may be locked because they're auto-filled
- Quick Setup is great for speed, Manual Setup is best for precise control
