How to Render a Playlist

All Levels10 min read

Rendering turns your completed PlaylistCraft playlist into a single video ready for YouTube upload.

What is Rendering?

A render transforms a completed PlaylistCraft playlist into a single video you can upload to YouTube. When you create a render job:

  • You choose a render format (images vs videos vs mixed, 20 vs 40 songs)
  • You may choose which song version batch to use (V1 or V2) for 20-song formats
  • Credits are charged immediately when you create the render job
  • The job appears on the Renders page with a status (queued/processing/completed/failed)

infoPrerequisites

  • ✓ At least one completed playlist
  • ✓ Sufficient credits to create a render job
  • ✓ Optional: Render Background Style set in Personalization

Where to Access Rendering

You can start a render in two ways:

  • From a playlist: Open a completed playlist → click Create Render
  • From the Renders section: Sidebar → RendersCreate Render

Method A: Start from a Playlist

The fastest way is from a completed playlist:

  1. Go to Playlists and open a playlist that shows status completed
  2. In the top-right, click Create Render

If your playlist isn't completed yet, this button will be disabled until generation finishes.

Method B: Start from the Renders Page

  1. Go to Renders → click Create Render
  2. On Create New Render, click one of the playlists in the list

This shows only playlists that are ready to render. If the list is empty, you'll see a message: No completed playlists ready for render.

Choosing a Render Format

You'll now be on the playlist's render screen (Render playlist). Each option tells you the background type and how many songs will be included.

  • Image formats: Static cover art or an image slideshow
  • Video formats: Looped short clips or stitched video segments
  • Mixed formats: A pattern that alternates images and videos

Choosing V1 vs V2 (20-song options only)

For 20-song renders, you can choose whether to render the V1 batch or the V2 batch of songs:

  1. Select a 20-song option
  2. Under "Which song versions to use in this render?", click between:
    • V1 (first version of each song)
    • V2 (second version of each song)

If you pick a 40-song option, it automatically includes both V1 and V2.

Creating the Render Job

When you click Create render job, PlaylistCraft charges credits immediately and queues the render worker to pick it up.

  1. Click Create render job
  2. If you have insufficient credits, you'll see a credits modal with a link to Credits & Billing

Once the job is created, it's queued and you can track it from the Renders page.

Tracking Progress

  1. Go to Renders
  2. Find the latest job card for your playlist
  3. Check the status:
    • queued — Waiting for render worker
    • processing — Currently rendering
    • completed — Video is ready
    • failed — An error occurred
  4. Click View Playlist to jump back to the playlist
  5. If completed, click View Video to open the result URL

Common Issues

  • If Create Render is disabled, your playlist isn't completed yet
  • If you don't see playlists on Create New Render, it filters to completed playlists only
  • If you get an insufficient credits prompt, you'll need to buy more credits before creating the render job
